I don't think it looks like me. More like I was still in a fairy tale drawing mood and got bored with a standard self-portrait

52 Demons - Card deck project

I've chosen Fairy Tales to portray my image of the demons, yet I'm also considering a seperate idea which shall be posted (within a few days hopefully) of a seperate idea that I'm still fiddling with.

As previously mentioned, here is the final for the process piece in Tim Bower's style. I'd been fighting with my scanner to get a better image, however unsuccessful. If I can get the painting back from my brother, I'll try to scan it up again since this is before I had made revisions and before I went darker and added hightlights.

Semi-thought process:
Sketches. The boxes of color are to seperate the articles as well as the personal images. We had a choice of illustrating an article or just playing with ideas of our own.

I picked out those I was most interested in and put them next to eachother to help decide. These are the refined sketches with quick color comp overlay.

After laying out my idea and having a quick color scheme in mind, I set to drawing out the image on illustration board. Then came the layers of gouache just to establish the forms. I wasn't sure at this stage what color I wanted the framing to be so I just went into the ship and some more layers of the hair.

A bit of a jump ahead, I decided the frame and went in to that. Then I tried one of Tim's techniques and started to pull up old layers to 'freshen' the paint and just pull it around with a wet brush. I added more to the hair and the face

And so forth and so on til the end.

Penclank - Artrade

So Seb and I both made each other something, and this is the result of my half of the gift. He draws cute little rectangular penguins so I decided to take his character and dress him in one of his favorite game character's garb(Ratchet and Clank).

As soon as I get back in town and have access to my scanner, I'll post his present to me. Or perhaps I'll just link to his post if he decides to blog about it.

Evie's Plant (Dummy Book)

So our final project for Children's Book involved making a 29 page book over the span of a month. We had to design the story and sketches as well as execute 3 spreads. The sketch and story phase took a bit and a few tweaks to get the flow right, but I'm happy with the turn out. But here it is bound.

I chose to work with acrylic washes overlayed with colored pencil. I had yet to try it and saw something similar in a rather amazing children's book whilst babysitting. I was originally going to do watercolor washes since I hadn't used them, but towards the end the time crunch got the better of me and I didn't want to experiment with such short time.

And these are the 3 spreads that I chose to color.

[I also note that while I didn't want to experiment with watercolors due to a time crunch, I spent 6+ hours trying to figure out how to make it look like a real book. x_x;;]

All in all, I'm pleased.
